Bump and the Beach

Good Morning!

As of Friday, I have officially returned to the blog world. It feels really good to be back and I am so thankful for those of you who reached out to me in various ways. All of it was extremely positive despite my extreme amount of nerves posting it.

This weekend we headed to the beach with Tony’s family. It was our last little getaway before baby girl comes! If you followed my Instagram stories you would have seen we went on our “baby moon” to Nashville, Tennessee. We had a blast, but boy did we do a lot! I was 28 weeks pregnant and really starting to feel things, realizing I can’t do as much as I once could.

A little more on this trip later… ๐Ÿ˜‰

This little getaway included a bit more relaxation than all of my other vacations. I’m an “on the go” type of person, so is Tony. I can’t sit on the beach for hours and be content. However, I am perfectly fine right now being an achey pregnant person who needs to rest.ย

Feet up was the name of the game. I’ve been pretty fortunate enough to not have any swelling in my feet or ankles so far, especially for being on my feet all day at work. The extreme heat and end of the weekend must have done me in though, because I looked down to see my ankles missing. I’d be 100% lying if I said body changes during pregnancy have been great. No matter who you are, how old, what shape, etc. it’s very hard to see your body change so drastically. It’s all apart of the process though and I accept it all because she is SO wanted and we can’t wait to meet her in less than 2 months ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t spend too much time outside. 95% of the time I was under a giant umbrella or hat and still covered in natural sunscreen (it’s pretty scary all the chemicals they put in most of them!). I did my research a few months ago on EWGย and found some through amazon I liked. The big issue is trying to get it off because most of the natural ones are like a paste. I must have scrubbed 3 times in the shower and still felt like I had a film on me, but I guess it’s better to be protected!

I had a max of 2 hours, pool or beach, and on Saturday I even went upstairs to nap. Remember mamas: it’s super important to stay hydrated if you are out in the sun this summer, wear sunscreen, and not to stay outside for long stretches. Pregnancy alone can make you so dehydrated, so once you add in the extra elements it can make you feel icky! Also always listen to your body. If you need to sit or rest, DO IT! I’m pretty good about knowing my limits and knew if my back started to hurt that it was time to take a seat. Plus, I have a great husband who asks me every 2 minutes if I’m okay. I’m so lucky to have someone who loves us so much!

I was desperately missing my babies back at home, but they are always in excellent care with my parents while we are gone. Hazel pouted quite a bit on the couch, and my mom sent me this picture to prove it!

She’s not asleep. She was ignoring everyone until mom and dad came home ๐Ÿ˜‰ She can’t help it, she just missed us too much. I’m so thankful for “G-Mama and Pop Pop” who treat our girls like their own and spoil them rotten. I’d never go anywhere if it wasn’t for them. I know my girls are treated like gold!

Our views were great and although it was hot, the sun shined the whole weekend. Perfect weather for the beach!

We kept talking about how next time we go, we will be parents. WHAT! It’s funny how I look at things now. I was watching all the babies and families interacting. And can we talk about how pool and beach accessories have come a long way!? Tony and I were laughing about the swimmies that existed in our day. You guys know the ones I’m talking about. Plastic, hot, BURNED when you tried to get them up, IF you could get them up, slap yourself in the face struggling to get them on, always resorting to dipping them in the water for a smoother transition up your arm. Oh the good old days… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sunday we said goodbye to the beach for the last time as just a married couple, and I snapped one last bump picture to remember it.

At home we finally reunited with the fur babies. Hazel is always a little bitter when we come back, but we had a good talk and she knows how mama feels about her. Phoebs on the other hand doesn’t leave my side for hours. I know they are going to be great big sisters!

In case you are wondering, I do plan on going back and talking about my journey thus far. It may not be a daily update on how things have gone, but I know a lot of people are curious about my first and second trimesters. It’s in the works this week to start blogging about the beginning of my pregnancy, although let’s face it, I was VERY tired and most of the first trimester feels like a blur. I’m sure the other mamas out there can totally relate on this one!

I hope everyone has a great start to the week ๐Ÿ™‚

XOXO,

Minnie

Haha yeah! I remember that day. It’s totally understandable though!
