Conversations With My Pup

Hello Everyone.

So that Terrible Tuesday? Not so terrible. Turns out when I got to work I did rock my Batbelt (aka 3 pagers on my waistline), but my surgery team was not on call for the Emergency Department! How did I get so lucky? That meant I did not have to go see all those people in the ER, someone else’s problemo!

I was actually relieved to go back to work. If I ever hit the lottery, I would never make it never working again. Yes it is fun not having a care in the world, just hanging out and working out every day, but after a while that gets old for me. I have to be doing something! Four days off was lovely, but Minnie goes a little stir crazy after a while. It wasn’t too hard to get back in the swing of things at work. I do always feel super missed when I am gone, which is a good thing, makes me feel like I actually have an important job πŸ˜‰

Yesterday I could NOT figure out for the life of me why my stomach felt like it was expanding. I didn’t hit me until about 10pm last night that this was the culprit:

DAIRY!
DAIRY!

I had this for a snack after my lunch and boy I paid for it later! I guess dairy and I really do not mix. I felt so bloated and gross. I said a while back that I was going to cut dairy completely, and I didn’t do a good job of it at all. Well okay, I cut out yogurt and most of my cottage cheese, but somehow the creamer snuck back in. I can’t help it, I just love my coffee and creamer!

So no more greek yogurt for this little lady πŸ™

430pm came around pretty quick and I changed for back day

quick wardrobe change

I completed my 30 minutes of cardio (20 on arc trainer, 10 on treadmill), and about 40 minutes of some back work. My sciatica was REALLY bothering me when I first got there because I hit dead lifts first. Phew I knew better than to over do it, so I lightened up after my first set of work.

  • Deadlifts, 135-145 lbs, 8-10 reps x 4 sets
  • High lat cable rows, 45-50 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets, then alternating arms, 10 reps x 4 sets each arm
  • Narrow barbell rows, 60 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Kettle bell lat pulldowns, 15 lbs each hand, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Rear delt fly’s, 20 lb weights, 10 rep x 4 sets

Doesn’t seem like a lot, but it got the job done! πŸ™‚

job complete

So did I get myself into trouble at the gym? Well technically no… but some older guy (old enough to be my father) made a pervy remark to me and I put him in his place. So I guess you could say the feisty Minnie is alive and well πŸ˜‰

When I came home I pretty much turned into a lazy bum. I sat in my chair for a good 2 hours and watched television. That doesn’t really happen that often and nothing was on tv, but I just didn’t want to move. Phoebe and I had some good conversations too.

Yes we talk back and forth. I really feel like when I say something, she answers back as I would expect. That’s normal right?

I also admired my new fun nails. I bought this polish at Wegmans. It’s called Fuzzy Coat by Sally Hansen. It is kind of like a Muppet meets confetti for your nails!

Today my ultimate goal is to get some of my dictations done at work (these awful little creatures that pile up quickly) and have a great gym session. My triceps are EXTREMELY sore from Monday’s arm session, so I might have to make it a mini “minnie” leg day instead of chest work. These arms need to relax!

I also might work on another turkey chili recipe this week. I’ve really been craving it lately, but want to try something slightly different. I will have to do some brainstorming! Darn now I’m hungry… πŸ˜‰

Have a great Wednesday and make sure you talk to your animals so I don’t feel as crazy, thanks!

XOXO With a Cherry On Top,

-Minnie

HI! glad to hear your Tuesday was ok! I’m lucky that dairy seems to suit my stomach as I love yogurt so much, hope you can find a good replacement. Have a good day Tamx

Glad to hear Terrible Tuesday wasn’t so Terrible πŸ™‚ I’m always talking to my cat, I think a lot of people think I am crazy! But at least my cat listens, and understands words lol. Mmmm turkey chili sounds good! I can’t remember the last time I had chili, I love it but never have it. I feel your pain. I’m lactose intolerant, and can’t tolerate greek yogurt (or any yogurt for that matter), and I can’t even really tolerate frozen yogurt too much anymore. Hope you can find something different that doesn’t bother your stomach!

You’re not alone. I talk to my cats and dogs all the time!! My fiancΓ© is constantly teasing me because I have a different “meow” sounds for each of my two cats, so depending upon how I “meow” is who meows back and comes running. I am a crazy animal lady and don’t care lol! I feel ya on the dairy. I’ve never really been able to tolerate it, but it’s like as soon as I hit my mid 20’s (27 now) my stomach got even more rebellious. Still trying to find a good yogurt substitute that’s not loaded with sugar like all the soy, almond, and coconut options I’ve found so far.

LOL! I also have different ways of talking to Phoebe. When we are just chit chatting I make the noises in the video. When I come home I’m more gushy… haha

Thanks Tayler! Glad you found me πŸ™‚

My suggestion is stick with the basic exercises to begin with. Bicep curls, rows, squats, etc. Then as you get used to things try some of my other “unique” workouts. Lift a little heavier than you think you can handle, but make sure your form is good. Proper form and less reps is better than poor form with lots of reps! If you are unsure of form, try bodybuilding.com. There are TONS of videos of the exercises I do on there that show you correct form! I use that site all the time πŸ™‚
