Office Girl

Good Morning Bloggies and Happy Saturday!

Yay finally a break from work, I love weekends! Time to get stuff done and also time to be lazy šŸ™‚

Phoebe was SUPER disappointed yesterday when she realized Mommy had to work. She knows whenever I wake up and there is sunshine, it’s a day off. Well since I didn’t have to be in the office until after 8, she definitely thought it was a G-Mama day. Poor little thing. It was really nice to wake up to sunlight over dark at 4:30!

Plus 8 hour work days go INSANELY fast. I haven’t worked an 8 hour workday since right out of college. Medicine is typically 10-12 hour shifts or MORE. I really like my 4 days a week so I don’t think I’d ever go to 5, but boy do those few hours make a difference in speeding up the day.

Like I said yesterday, I was able to wear REAL people clothes since I was seeing patients in an office. I dug these out:

real clothes
It’s crazy how your hair changes with age! I NEVER had any wave in my hair at all. Poker straight for my 28 years. Now it’s a wavy frizzy mess if I do not blow dry it!

When I got to work I took over the office of the PA I was covering for. She has a really nice, new, and big office! In the hospital all the surgical PAs share one (about 10 of us).

It was a morning of seeing patients and very refreshing to be out of the hospital for once! Most of the people I deal with are VERY sick, change of pace is good sometimes.

I look trustworthy don't I?

When it came time for lunch I NEEDED coffee. I usually have another big cup mid morning, after I already have my coffee marathon at 6am. Since I had time, I walked over to the main hospital and got my fix.

I also stopped in to say hello to the residents and everyone is always surprised when they see you in real clothes! It’s always scrubs and messy hair. “THIS is what you look like?” Well yes, I actually have a life outside of this hospital where I do not wear these ugly off green pajamas 24/7. šŸ˜‰

Actually it’s always yoga pants and tanks, but let’s pretend I dress up all the time.

When I came back I had lunch that I had packed. I made ground turkey the night before with a little cumin and garlic powder. I plopped in my sweet potato for my carb and had a side salad topped with avocado, for my veggies and good fats. Oh and balsamic vinegar dressing with a splash of olive oil. Yum yum! Simple, but good.

I ended up finishing my work day around 4pm! Woot, time to go to the gym. I actually had a very easy peasy day and the office staff was very nice and welcoming to me, but they were before when I had helped out a few months back.

My game plan for the gym was chest day. Okay here is my confession. I HATE CHEST DAY. Yes, I do. I admit it. I don’t like the exercises at all, and I’d rather work on my shoulders or legs, but I always make sure I do it anyway, even if it’s just a little. Do you have a certain muscle group you hate to do?Ā

I almost left when I arrived because I just didn’t want to do it, but once I saw the Smith machines were taken for bench pressing I said okay let me bang out a few leg presses, get the ball rolling a little and I will move onto chest. So I did! Here was my workout from yesterday:

  • Leg presses, 180 lbs, 12 reps x 4 sets
  • Chest presses, seated machine, 70-80 lbs, 12 reps x 4 sets
  • Kettle bell standing pec fly, 8 lbs each, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Side bends, 30 lb kettle, 10 reps x 4 sets each side
  • Pushups, 10 reps x 3 sets
  • Stability ball fly on incline, 20 lb weights, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • 35 minutes of HIIT cardio on the spin bike
  • STRETCHING!

So as you see not a lot of chest, but I did some! This workout was a little over an hour, what I usually do on work days.

At home Phoebe was happy to see me and ready to start the weekend, I made almond crusted chicken tenders.

Anything in nugget or tender form is good in my book!

I also have been enjoying Big Bang Theory marathons. I own all the seasons because it is my all time favorite show (besides Friends). Sheldon Cooper totally makes my day when I am feeling down. Bazinga! Seasons 2-4 are probably the best though. The newer ones have been a little disappointing.

In the late evening my mom had sent me a text telling me about this picture of Bella my sister had sent over and how funny it is. Well I saw it on Facebook and cracked up. Bella definitely marches to the beat of her own drum and her fashion style is VERY unique for that of a 6 year old. Here is what my sister posted.

My sis is so funny! Definitely a Steven Tyler look, but more adorable. As I looked at it I thought hmmmmm why does it look so familiar? Well then it hit me.

MY MINI ME! We look a lot a like šŸ™‚

So that was my Friday. This morning I am heading back to Pilates reformer class. It’s been some time so I am looking forward to it. I like how it makes me feel strong and lean when I am finished!

Oh and thanks so much for the positive feedback about the photo dump! Glad you guys liked it šŸ™‚ I will do it again soon!

XOXO With a Cherry On Top,

-Minnie

They probably didn’t recognize you! That’s what always happened in my Cosmo class. We had uniforms, and whenever we didn’t have to wear them, we never recognized each other lol. I’m the same way, I hate doing chest. At least you do some, I refuse to do any at all….Mmmm I still have yet to try those almond crusted chicken strips. I defiantly need to!! Enjoy your weekend šŸ™‚

“real people clothes” lol, i love it šŸ˜€ i dread doing bicep curls of any sort. for me though, it’s because i’m double jointed at the elbow and although my baby biceps are growing (yay!) when they get even the slightest bit fatigued it becomes so hard to stop at the bottom of the curl before my elbow hyperextends. it’s so frustrating because i try so hard for good form, but that throws me off every time. boo! those chicken strips look tasty! i’ve just started reintroducing white meats back into my diet after years and years! still not 100% sold on chicken, but i might just have to try these.

Oh no! Yes I bet that is hard to control! I used to have the weakest biceps! Just took time to get them up to par.

Know the feeling – I have a uniform at work, and people always say how different I look. And I admit, there have been people I haven’t recongnized outside of wearing their uniform!! I hate chest days!

Glad I am not the only chest day hater lol
